Cerro Tronador and Ventisquero Negro
Description
From turquoise lakes to the roar of glaciers: experience the grandeur of Tronador and the charm of Lake Mascardi.
Traveling south on Route 40, we will skirt Lake Gutiérrez and see Cerro Ventana, Cerro Catedral and the watershed divide until reaching Lake Mascardi, a beautiful lake whose color varies with the sunlight.
Arriving at the entrance of Nahuel Huapi National Park, we will begin a mountain road route with short stops at Lake Mascardi, Playa Negra, the Isla Corazón viewpoint, Los Rápidos and Salto de los Moscos.
Further on, from a glacial plain, we will have our first view of Mount Tronador, the highest peak in the Patagonian region, whose name refers to the frequent noise made by ice falls from the glaciers.
Upon reaching the base of the mountain, we find Tronador at its fullest expression, where we will admire its eternal snows at the summit, the glacier ice known as Ventisquero Negro and the lagoon formed by its melting.
