Discover the pure reminiscence of German colonization on this tour along the northern shore of Lake Llanquihue, passing manor houses and scenic routes.
We will begin the tour leaving the Port toward the Pan-American Highway South, traveling about 30 kilometers until reaching the city of Llanquihue, famous for its cured meats and the place of origin of the Maullín River, part of the old Settlers’ Route. We will skirt Lake Llanquihue and head to Frutillar. This city is a beautiful town reminiscent of Bavaria, where its first settlers came from. It emerged in 1856 as a shipping pier, soon followed by tanneries, mills, breweries, etc. We will stroll around its beautiful old German-style houses, admiring its well-kept gardens and its incomparable view of the Osorno and Puntiagudo volcanoes. Passengers can visit the German Colonial Museum, which shows the life of the settlers, and on its Waterfront we will see the Teatro del Lago, where the famous “Frutillar Musical Weeks” are held annually.
From here we will head to Puerto Octay, also located on the northern shore of the lake, marked by German influence and the first port of departure for agricultural products to Osorno. We will tour its old streets and Plaza and be able to taste local gastronomy.
We will begin our return journey to the city of Puerto Montt.
Arrival at the Port.
