San Martín de los Andes via the Seven Lakes Road
Description
From Nahuel Huapi to Lácar: experience the charm of seven blue mirrors in the heart of Patagonia.
A road where seven lakes blend into the mountain landscape. We will take National Route 40 east, skirting the eastern end of Lake Nahuel Huapi until reaching the Limay River, the natural boundary between the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén. We will arrive at Villa La Angostura for a 30-minute technical stop, and from there begin the journey along the Seven Lakes Route; we will travel through parts of Nahuel Huapi National Park and Lanín National Park, admiring lakes Espejo, Correntoso, Escondido, Villarino, Falkner, Machónico and Lácar, on whose shores the city of San Martín de los Andes is located. In that town we will have approximately 2 hours to have lunch and explore the city center or the waterfront.
The route chosen for the return to Bariloche could be “Sunset on the 7 Lakes Road”, in which case the route is traveled in reverse and with different light to relive the experience, or another option via the so-called “La Rinconada”, which skirts the Collón Cura and joins Route 40.
